TYLER — UPDATE: Tyler Police Department along with the Street Department is reporting that all bridges and roadways within the City of Tyler are clear of any icy conditions.
Sand trucks sanded all roads and bridges that had ice conditions this morning due to freezing rain in the area.
ORIGINAL STORY: The icy roads have caused many accidents Monday morning.
Authorities tell KETK, drivers are driving to too fast on the frozen streets, especially in the area of bridges and overpasses.
There have been multiple wrecks at the Beckham St. bridge in Tyler, for example.
The Tyler Police Department is asking motorists to avoid the overpass in the 200 block of East Gentry, the overpass in the 700 block of North Beckham and the overpass in the 900 block of East Fifth Street until further notice.
Officials across East Texas are urging drivers to use caution when on the roads this morning, due to the freezing rain.
