EAST TEXAS (KETK) — Two East Texas men were seriously injured in an oil field accident in Atascosa County.
It happened just before 7:00 pm on Monday at an oil field site on a ranch about 16 miles south of Charlotte.
That's in the southwestern portion of the county.
The men have been identified as William Lenard Crabb, 30, of Tyler, and Christopher Barrios, 29, of Chandler. Both men grew up in Athens.
Crabb and Barrios were working on a trailer with what officials called a "pipe gun" used in oil field work.
The equipment exploded while they were handling it.
Atascosa County Sheriff officials tell KETK, first responders arrived on scene to find the men severly burned on their arms, face, and abdomen.
They were taken by helicopter to the San Antonio Military Medical Center.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Crabb was still in critical condition. Barrios' condition is unknown.
OSHA is on scene investigating the incident.
