East Texas (Longview News-Journal) — Northeast Texas lake levels continued to climb Tuesday, fed by rivers and streams carrying run-off from heavy rains across the region during the past month.
“All good news there, although we did have some minor flooding from the last front, mainly in Northern Louisiana and Deep East Texas,” said National Weather Service Meteorologist Matt Hemingway. “Overall, it’s been a well-needed rain. January rainfall that totaled 3.21 inches at East Texas Regional Airport by Tuesday morning brought the monthly total to 1.78 inches beyond normal level. Add that to December, which exceeded its normal 4.77 inches with 5.66 inches recorded.
