Union Grove (Longview News-Journal) — With wholehearted support from its community, the Union Grove school board enacted a policy Thursday night to allow select, licensed and trained teachers and administrators to have a firearm on campus.
Union Grove ISD, a Class 2A school district in rural Upshur County with 761 students, is only the second district in Texas to enact such a policy. The first was Harrold ISD in 2007.
“The worst thing we can do is nothing,” Union Grove school board Vice President Rusty Dyar said.
