HOUSTON COUNTY, Tx (KETK) — One person was injured Tuesday morning during an explosion at an oil field site near Weldon.
According to Houston County Fire Marshal David Lamb, at 11 a.m., plant workers reported two tanks had exploded at the Navidad Weldon Gas Processing Plant on County Road 3575 off of FM 230.
The explosion created a fire, but multiple fire crews have since put it out. The cause of the fire has not been determined. Authorities first told KETK they believed a gas pump exploded.
One person was injured and has been flown to a Houston hospital to be treated for burns on multiple parts of his body. He is expected to recover from his wounds. His name has not been released.
Several fire departments are currently on the scene assessing the situation.
Navidad Weldon Gas Processing Plant is a small facility located on about two acres of landing, according to Lamb.
The community of Weldon is located 21 miles southwest of Crockett.
