Kilgore, TX (Longview News-Journal) — Kilgore school trustees pored over applications for superintendent a fourth time Thursday and hope to name a finalist soon.
“I am hopeful that by the end of next week, we’ll have a finalist,” board President Janet Marley said.
Thirty-two applications have arrived since the board began its search to replace former Superintendent Jody Clements, who took an assistant superintendent position at Longview schools in August.
“Most came from Texas,” Marley said. “We had some from out of state.”
Trustees on Feb. 7 informally agreed on four finalists.
State law requires school districts to release the names of up to three finalists once they are formally chosen through a vote in open session. That announcement must occur at least 21 days before a final vote to hire is taken.
