Marshall, TX (Longview News-Journal) — A Harrison County grand jury has no-billed a 14-year-old in the stabbing death of his stepfather.
Harrison County District Attorney Coke Solomon said Monday the grand jury returned the no-bill judgment on Thursday.
The decision means the grand jury thinks there is insufficient evidence to send the case to trial.
Defense attorney Gena Bunn had previously argued the teen was acting in self-defense when he stabbed his stepfather, William “Ashley” Alford, 39, at their home on Jan. 23. The teen had been charged with first-degree murder.
