Tyler King's Academy, a member of the Texas Christian Athletic League (TCAL), has qualified to play for the 2A boys basketball state championship this weekend in Frisco Texas.
The Knights won the TCAL 1A state championship in 2012 in San Antonio last year.
The school moved up to TCAL 2A this year and have qualified for the State Tournament again in 2013.
Their season record is 11-8 overall and 5-1 in TCAL Region 2 play.
The first two rounds of state tournament for TCAL are being held in Frisco at Fieldhouse USA and the Championship games are being played at the Cotton Bowl Coliseum in Dallas.
Tyler King's Academy plays #1 ranked Allen Academy (27-10/4-0) from Bryan in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 10:00 am in Frisco.
If they advance to the semifinals, they'll play Friday at 1:00 pm against the winner of Greenville Phoenix Charter and Waco Live Oak.
The State Boys 2A TCAL championship game is Saturday at 3:00 pm at the Cotton Bowl Coliseum in Dallas.
The Kings are guided by Head Coach Dodie Wilson and Assistant Coaches Jason Brooks and Dave Nedbalek.
Here is what Coach Dodie Wilson told KETK about the state tournament opener featuring King's Academy and another top team.
"We'll have to give and take some punches to stay in this game.
If I had to go to war, I would go with these guys. They can pull off miracles like 29 points in the fourth quarter. I'm really excited to see what they can do."
