Tyler, Tx — The Tyler Parks and Recreation Department is offering weekly American Karate classes this spring at the Glass Recreation Center as part of a year-round program highlighting techniques in anti-abduction, sport and self-defense.
New classes will begin Tuesday, March 25, at three different times: beginners from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. for youth ages 5 to 12; advanced from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. for youth ages 5 to 12; and teenagers/adults from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. for ages 13 and above.
“The City of Tyler is fortunate to have had Robert Lamont as our certified instructor for more than 20 years teaching this course in the martial arts” said Debbie Isham, special events and recreation manager.
Mr. Lamont instructs the classes, which cost $60 for a 10-week program. Participants must also pay a $30 uniform fee.
