Kilgore — The search for a new leader of the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce is taking shape a month after the departure of its longtime president.
Interim President Ronnie Morrison said Wednesday the chamber had hired a consultant to assist in the selection, and a committee is working to identify the qualities needed to replace Mike Coston, who departed in February.
“We know we want someone with professional chamber experience,” Morrison said. “The profile we develop will be publicized. ... The professional will screen the resumes, and he will present a handful of candidates to the search committee. The committee will in turn take a candidate before the board.”
Coston led the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce for 12 years before leaving in January to become president and CEO of the Fort Worth-based Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America. He will serve during the association’s 50th anniversary celebrations next year.
