Tyler, TX (KETK) — Except for the parents who lost children in the Newtown, Connecticut, shootings, no one feels worse about that than I do.
But, Ii was stunned beyond belief when just a few days ago I saw a U.S. senator from Connecticut trying to politicize the shooting.
The Daily Caller reports Connecticut Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy is urging NASCAR to drop the National Rifle Association's sponsorship of an April Sprint Cup Series race at the Texas Motor Speedway.
In a Thursday letter to NASCAR President and CEO Brian France, Murphy cited the NRA's political positions following the elementary school shooting in Newton, Conn., saying "NASCAR has crossed a line" by giving the NRA the title sponsorship at a major race, set to be called the NRA 500.
Well, excuse me senator, but NASCAR is its own entity and they can get a sponsorship from anyone they deem fit.
In full disclosure, I am a member of the NRA and an NRA certified shooting instructor. I also don't follow NASCAR.
But, you think I don't have any remorse when it comes to those kids getting killed? Remember, those kids were killed by a off-kilter kid trying to make a sick point.
Every gun owner I know would have gone crazy on any adult or kid pointing a gun at a defensless child or adult.
This senator is trying to tack innocent blood on me and people like me.
You want to talk about politicizing, senator, you are the one politicizing. Shame on you.
That's my point of view, whats yours?
