Kilgore (Longview News-Journal) — A shooting incident [1] a week ago near the Kilgore College campus may have been gang-related, Kilgore police said Tuesday.
Investigators said they recovered as many as 30 shell casings that were fired from several handguns during the March 4 incident.
The shooting apparently was a continuation of a fight on campus earlier that day. Witnesses told police the same two people later continued the fight in an off-campus alley near Houston and South streets.
That’s when the shooting started, said Kilgore police spokesman Capt. Roman Roberson.
When the gunplay began, a crowd that had gathered to watch the fight dispersed. It was not clear if the two were shooting at each other or into the crowd.
