Kilgore — A hole that’s blocked two lanes of the main north-south artery through Kilgore since last week is not the menace its resemblance to a black hole might imply, City Manager Scott Sellers reported Monday.
“It is definitely not a sinkhole,” Sellers said of the sewer break that prompted barricades on two lanes of U.S. 259 in Kilgore on Thursday. “We have a, probably, 60-plus-year-old sewer line that went under the road there. And it was an old concrete line. And after 60 years, those gases just kind of eat away the concrete.”
