Tyler, TX (KETK) — March 20th was the first day of spring.
The sun is shining, the flowers are starting to bloom and for many, it is that time to start spring cleaning.
Not just in your house but in your life.
We're told the sunshine and the fresh air has a huge impact on our mood and studies show opening up that window, letting the fresh air in and giving away stuff we don't need is proven to make us happier, healthier and calmer.
it is a time to declutter our houses, give away those old clothes and get ready for spring time activities.
It is also the busiest time of year for cleaning services.
Annette Baker, Sales Consultant for Merry Maids, says spring time is
"busy busy busy."
"The phone's are ringing almost continuously and people are really looking to have their homes cleaned in the speediest time possible," said Baker.
People are starting to get out of the winter gloom mode and getting ready for the springtime activities.
Not only are people cleaning out their house, they are starting to detox their life, in the outdoors.
Research shows natural sunlight helps with depression and has a more positive effect on mental health than going to the gym.
Melanie Edwards' company, East Texas Adventure Boot Camp, holds all of their classes outside.
Edwards says most of her clients sign up for her boot camp classes during the spring, while they can enjoy the nice weather and get a great outdoor workout at the same time.
"Most of the time in the fitness industry its January. But, for us its springtime because not only are people getting ready for summer swimsuit season, its also not super hot or super cold. It is a good temperature (outside) and that's a time when people want to get outside and get things moving along," said Edwards.
