Kilgore, TX (KETK) — It was more than 5 years ago when Kilgore Firefighter Matt Wedgeworth signed up to become a bone marrow donor.
Wedgeworth was in the Army back in 2007 when his unit was approached about the possibility of being a donor. Wedgeworth applied and forgot about it until earlier this year.
In January Wedgeworth received a call saying he was a match. Wedgeworth was flown to Washington D.C. for tests to make sure he was healthy enough to donate. Then in March Wedgeworth with the support of the Kilgore Fire Department flew back to Washington for the procedure.
Wedgeworth joined the Kilgore Fire Department in 2010 and tells KETK helping has always been in blood.
