Longview — The Longview Police Department’s 2013 warrant sweep collected more than $425,000 in fees owed to the city — bringing in almost $160,000 more than in 2012, police officials said Thursday.
The results stem from the city’s participation in the annual Great Texas Warrant Roundup, which removed 1,945 warrants from the books this year.
The majority of the warrants cleared were due to the defendant voluntarily paying the fines, Longview Municipal Court officials said.
LPD officials are calling the recent warrant sweep a success.
