Always use distilled inside the pot or bottle. Warm it by 'bathing' the pot or bottle in hot tap for several minutes (essentially a 'double boiler' method, without the boil part). If you are buying new, don't buy the pots, get the black and clear bottle, it's so much easier and works a lot better.
