Texas Gov. Perry tries to downplay 'called' remark

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Gov. Rick Perry is trying to downplay the religious connotations of his comment about feeling "called" to run for president.

Perry, an evangelical Christian, told The Des Moines Register last week that he's "getting more and more comfortable every day that this is what I've been called to do."

Asked about the comment Monday, Perry said there are a lot of different ways to be called. He said his mother may call him for dinner, his friends may call him for something.

Perry says he looks for signs or "good scripture that tells me how to live my life," but that the statement covered all kinds of calls.

The governor, who's hosting a prayer rally Aug. 6 in Houston, says he hasn't yet decided if he'll run for president.

How does th Ol Gov equate his $10,000 a month Austin West side digs for he and Anita to his supposed "conservative christain values"? The Ol Gov and his boyz are starting to remind me of Gov. Butch Otter and his bud up in Idaho. They also had quite the reputation amongst the Strip club scene. He is lower than a snake, he is a Tea Bagger.

Under Perry Texas has gone from a surplus in the state budget to a 27 billion dollar shortfall and a zero bond debt to a 38 billion dollar bond debt which = to a 65 BILLION DOLLAR SPENDING SPREE BY THE REPUBLICANS AND PERRY BEING THE GOP HAS CONTROLLED TEXAS NOW FOR MORE THAN 10 YEARS.

HOW DO YOU THINK A GOP PRESIDENT PERRY WOULD BE A PHYSICAL CONSERVATIVE HE HASN'T IN TEXAS.

I can see what he's saying, because his wife thinks he should run, and people all over the nation have him in 2nd place in a news poll, when he's not even announced that he's running yet. He's behind Romney, and Romney is for parts of the health care plan, so now who do you want running?

It is a sad commentary that ANYONE, excluding our known criminals, would be better for this country than the traitor we now have for president; and yes, I would prefer even SOME of our known criminals. At least some of the American ones!!!!

What a bunch of trumped-up propaganda to capture the Christian right conservative vote. I too see the moral decay of our nation, I too see the attack against Christian values across our land, but it will take more than claiming Christian beliefs to define the platform of conservatism. After his liberal agenda on illegal immigration and the Trans Texas Corridor land grab, I pray that his higher calling doesn't come from the New World Order. Remember he was Al Gore's campaign chairman.

Perry is a side switching snake.
