A Smith County sheriff's deputy's son has been indicted on charges of criminally negligent homicide and failure to stop and render aid in the December 2011 hit-and-run death of a 50-year-old Tyler man.

Police say Jared Stinecipher, 25, left the scene of a crash that killed Arthur Murphy of Tyler. Murphy later died at a Tyler hospital.

Stinecipher was arrested after the hit-and-run for parole revocation.

Stinecipher remains in the Smith County Jail.
