Area coaches indifferent about UIL amendment
Longview, Tx (News-Journal.com) — Multiple head football coaches at prominent area high schools downplayed the effects of an amendment to limit in-season, full-contact practice to 90 minutes per week in an effort to limit concussions and other injuries.
The University Interscholastic League, which governs high school sports, approved the 90-minute limit at its meeting in Austin on Tuesday. The measure now goes to the state education commissioner for approval before the start of preseason practice in August.
