Chivas and Tigres face off at 3rd Annual Futbol de las Rosas

Tyler, Tx (KETK) — Brookshire's Grocery Company and the Hispanic Business Alliance has announced two leading Mexican soccer teams, Chivas and Tigres, to face off on Saturday, June 29, at the 3rd Annual "Futbol de las Rosas" internation soccer exhibition at Tyler Rose Stadium.
The league of teams is consisting of players under the age of 20 who are training to become top players in the Mexican Football Federation.
"We are very proud to provide this unique entertainment opportunity for the East Texas community," said BGC President and CEO Rick Rayford. "We have coordinated this event with our vendor partners, and the Hispanic Business Alliance to provide a top-notch sporting event, and we look forward to making this an annual celebration."
During half time, five contestants will get the chance to win $25,000 during the Soccer Kick Challenge. To be selected, participants must enter the soccer challenge by registering at the Kraft booth during the game. There will also be many opportunities for door prizes, games, and food samples from partnering with companies including Kraft, Procter & Gamble, Kellogg's, Coca Cola, Community coffee, Jarrito's, Mission, Hormel, Smuckers, Lala, General Mills, Unilever and Mondelez.
A group of professional break dancers, Soul Street Dancers, will perform at pre game and half time. Local soccer professionals and former John Tyler student Daniel Hernandez and his father, former John Tyler soccer coach, Demetrio Hernandez will be recognized during the half time for their impact to soccer in the East Texas community.
The teams are also hosting a coed soccer clinic sponsored by Kellogg’s and Procter & Gamble Saturday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The clinic is open to local high school atheletes. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m., with kick-off scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tickets are currently on sale at all Tyler-area Brookshire’s and Super 1 Foods stores, and they can also be purchased at the gate. Tickets are $10 for adults and kids 12 and under receive free admission.
