East Texans feeling the BCS blues

UT still has a shot for the national title game - if OU loses to Missouri.
Texas football fans - young and old - are dealing with the BCS blues Monday one day after Oklahoma leapfrogged the Longhorns and moved to No. 2 in the BCS rankings.
Leaving many Texas fans - feeling violated.
"Really we should be where they are, playing in the big 12 championship and going to the national championship," said Mark Jones of Tyler. "We deserve it! We beat Oklahoma!"
This is how it happened:
OU and Texas faced each other in October at the Cotton Bowl - the Sooners lost to UT - 45-35.
From then on - the Sooners trailed sightly behind Texas in the "Bowl Championship Series" (BCS) standings.
Fast-forward to Thanksgiving Day: Texas drubbed an unranked Texas A&M, 49-9.
Days later, OU traveled to No. 14 OSU and won 61-41.
That was enough to impress the computer.
"Each of us have identical records in the conference," said OU head coach Bob Stoops, referring to Texas Tech, OU and Texas. "One of us has to go (to the Big 12 Championship). None of us put the system together and that's the way it is."
UT still has a shot for the national title game - if OU loses to Missouri.
Until then, college football fans from all over the country seem to agree on one thing: a playoff system is needed.

Hey Tamara! Thanks for the explanation of the omission. It's just so frustrating to see UT fans act like this. While in OKC over the holidays I heard an interview with Coach Stoops and his remarks about the other teams in our conference was amazing. He said that he had nothing but respect for every team in our conference and was proud to be a part of a conference that had so much talent! He really is an every day hero...more so off the field as well...We (OU) didn't create the BCS rating system so for UT and Mack Brown to accuse us of doing something wrong is just beyond me...again...thanks for responding... I just wish it would have been mentioned....that was a huge factor in the computer rating....Kristi

We are very aware of the Tech win (was not left out on purpose). However, because of the time alloted for stories - we couldn't get everything into the story.
