SAN ANTONIO --- We saw Felix Jones run for more than 90 yards in the two of his first three games last season. Now, he's showing signs he can do a whole lot more. He's gained about five pounds on Marion Barber. He started camp at 218.
Jones tells us not to make to much of it, he expects the weight to come off as camp continues.
As you pair that with the extra carries he's had at mini-camp, you realize Marion Barber isn't the only one the coach is relying on.
"Felix has just matured you know. He's just getting stronger and getting
bigger," Coach Wade Phillips says.
Jones still says he has a lot to learn from Barber, "We use Marion Jones as an example. He comes and goes back to the sidelines and possibly tells me what to look for. With that type of advice and that type of leadership, we all can get better; once we get in that game and make each other better."
A swollen knee kept Jones out of the morning practice Tuesday. He was suppose to be out for the afternoon also, but made the effor to suit up and practice. Phillips says he doesn't expect the swollen knee to be a problem this season.
