Cowboys release DT Jay Ratliff
Arlington, Tx (Dallas Cowboys Media Release) — The Dallas Cowboys have released defensive tackle Jay Ratliff from the reserve/physically unable to perform list today as failed physical.
Ratliff was originally drafted by Dallas in the seventh round (224th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft out of Auburn.
He started 85-of-104 games for Dallas, posting 317 tackles, 27.0 sacks, 25 tackles for loss, 124 pressures, 18 pass breakups, five forced fumbles and 13 fumble recoveries. Ratliff earned four Pro Bowls with Dallas (2008-11).
He injured his groin against Washington (11/22/12) and missed the remainder of the 2012 season before undergoing surgery in the offseason and being placed on active/pup to start training camp in 2013 and then reserve/pup.
