America's team's first round choice is a secret no more. Jerry Jones, owner and general manager of the team, selected Zack Martin with the 16th overall pick.

The offensive guard played college ball at the Univeristy of Notre Dame.

Barring a trade, Dallas will pick again at 47th overall in the next round.

Leading up to the draft, analysts speculated whether the Cowboys would trade up for much-hyped quarterback Johnny Manziel or play it safe. Many felt the franchise should take a defensive selection after they finished near the bottom of the league in team defense.

Dallas did not make the playoffs again last season, finishing 8-8 (5-1). They last made an appearance in the postseason back in 2009.

KETK's Phil Kuchinsky and Garrett Sanders talked live with a couple of East Texas Aggies.

Dallas Cowboys as "America's Team" is ancient history.
Even die hard life long Dallas Cowboy fans recommend that name be given a rest as if RIP.
They need to earn that recognition again
You don't hear anyone referring to the Steelers defense as the Iron Curtain
Or the Washington Redskins offensive front line as the Hogs
Or the Vikings defense as the Purple People Eaters
Bottom line - it was an era which is looongg past.
Time to give it a rest.
