Tyler, Tx (ETBU Media Release) — On a hot afternoon in Tyler playing in the first NCAA Division III Tyler Regional format, #6 East Texas Baptist University powered their way to the championship over Texas Lutheran University (33-9), 5-1. Scoring in four of the seven innings played, ETBU put their first two runs on the board in the third inning capitalizing on two Texas Lutheran errors. Lindsey singled to centerfield for the first run as Perez came in. The second run came on a throwing error in Kayla Garcia’s at-bat that allowed Romero to come in.
Bowden singled in the third run of the game in the fourth inning as Perez scored again in the game. One more run was added in the sixth inning on Romero single down the left field line bringing in Mallory Westbrook. Hollingshead rounded out the scoring for ETBU in the seventh inning sacrificing her at-bat with a bunt as Maranda Westbrooks scored from third base.
