Troup Coach Dennis Alexander is the winningest coach in East Texas.

All 338 of his victories have come at East Texas high schools.

Saturday night in Texarkana, Alexander will be enshrined in the East Texas Coaches Association Hall of Honor.

KETK Sports Director Danny Elzner caught up with Alexander to try and find out his secret to success.

The coach said there isn't a secret.

"A whole lot of coaching is like real estate," Alexander said. "It's location, location, location."

"I've had great players," Alexander added. "Twelve or so have been in the pros."

"Some were All-Pros," Alexander said. "I've had All-Americans and a Jim Thorpe award winner."

But something is even more important.

"I've met people at every school and every community that are dear friends," Alexander said. "The friends you make that are dear friends and knowing people, that's been very, very important to me."

Alexander has been a head coach for 42 years.

He's coached at Hughes Springs, Daingerfield, Henderson, Harleton and Troup.

Alexander won two state championships at Daingerfield.

He is the second-winningest active coach in Texas and the fourth all-time winningest coach in the state.

At age 66, Alexander is not done.

Saturday, he'll be honored by his fellow coaches.

Monday, he'll start working on ways to beat them.
