Gilmer mourns the death of Desmond Pollard
Gilmer (KETK) — Desmond Pollard was Gilmer's top receiver last season.
He died last Sunday.
His funeral will be at First Baptist Church in Gilmer Saturday at 2:00.
"He was one of the greatest players I've ever coached and he was one of the sweetest people," said Gilmer coach Jeff Traylor. "He just died so young."
The group of kids he's with, they've always been a special group to me," Traylor added. "They're really upset."
"He had a people personality," said Gilmer receiver Chase Tate. "He would just make you smile and laugh all the time."
"He had a big smile, he was real tall and athletics, just a beautiful, beautiful heart," Traylor said. "It's a very sad day in Gilmer."
