John Tyler High School has spirit

KETK
Friday Football Fever

POSTED: Friday, August 29, 2014 - 1:50pm

UPDATED: Saturday, August 30, 2014 - 2:34pm

John Tyler High School will open their season tonight against the Plano Wildcats. The best way to describe a John Tyler pep rally is one giant dance party. The cheerleaders danced, the football players danced and even the mascot danced. If there is one thing this school has, it's spirit. Cheer captain, Whitney Mims agreed.

"What makes the fans special? They arrive for us no matter what," said Mims.

Everyone is ready for the beginning of football season. Varsity football coach, Ricklan Holmes, said he is excited.

"Anytime you get to go against someone else, doing what you've been doing all off season, working up to this point, knowing that this is the first game of the season, either you're gonna start out 1-0 or 0-1," said Holmes.

"I'm really excited to be back there on the field cheering the boys on," said Mims.

There will be many returning players for the football team.

"Nine on offense and seven on defense. So, I expect a lot of point scores tonight, and I expect to keep a lot of points off the board tonight," said Holmes.

Rain or shine, they want the fans at the game for support.

"Anytime you're getting ready to play football, you're gonna have to be excited.  We know what we do, what we have been doing since the off season, going into the spring, going into the summer and having a great summer camp like we did," said Holmes.
