This will be a different kind of season for the Gilmer Buckeyes.

They will not play their rival Gladewater this year.

And they will no longer be in the District of Doom.

"Kilgore, Chapel Hill, Carthage and Henderson are not in there with us anymore," said Gilmer coach Jeff Traylor.  "That will be nice."

"We've played Bullard for a whileand we're familiar with them," Traylor added.  "But Community, Melissa, we haven't seen much of them, Rains, in a while."

Gilmer will start the new season in Tyler.

The Buckeyes will play at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium on Thursday night, August 28, against Liberty-Eylau.

Gilmer will play Pine Tree, Tatum, Daingerfield and Carthage in non-district.
