TISD Athletic Director Rod Kaspar reacts to news about Ennis

KETK

POSTED: Thursday, February 20, 2014 - 9:06pm

UPDATED: Thursday, February 20, 2014 - 9:06pm

KETK Sports Director Danny Elzner was the first to break the news to TISD Athletic Director Rod Kaspar.

Ennis is leaving the East Texas district in everything except football.

"It was really surprising to me that they gave them all the other sports besides football and kept football with us," Kaspar said.  "In a way that's good for us because we don't lose a football game."

"We'll still have a full schedule of games and it'll be easier to fill our basketball and volleyball games that we've lost with them leaving," Kaspar added.  "I think it will turn out all right for everybody."

Ennis will stay in the football district with John Tyler, Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Jacksonville, Whitehouse and Lindale.

But Ennis will go to another district closer to them for all other sports.
