Bogenschutz named "Outstanding Player of the Game"

17, 641 watched as two East Texas powerhouse programs faced off for the Texas high school football class 3A Division 1 state championship in the "Bulldog Bowl."

The Carthage Bulldogs (15-1) proved to be too much for the previously undefeated Kilgore Bulldogs (14-1) as they rolled to a 34-23 victory, Friday, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

The win secured Carthage's fourth state championship trophy since 2008 and earned quarterback Blake Bogenschutz "Outstanding Player of the Game" honors.

Bogenschutz rushed for 100 of the Bulldogs' 264 yards and completed eight of 18 passes for 185 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Running back, Tevin Pipkin rushed for 118 yards on 18 carries and picked up the final touchdown of the game, according to Smoaky.com.

From all of us at KETK, congratulations to both teams on stellar seasons and for representing East Texas! #GoBulldogs
