DALLAS (AP) - Darian Godfrey passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead Gilmer to a 43-26 win over Abilene Wylie in the Class 3A Division I state championship Saturday night.

Gilmer (15-0) won its second state championship in four title game appearances. Gilmer also won the 3A Division II title in 2004.

Godfrey, a senior quarterback, was 21-of-29 passing for 273 yards. He also ran 19 times for another 146 yards and accounted for 419 of Gilmer's 492 yards of offense.

Wylie (12-2) trailed 21-0 midway through the second quarter but fought back to make it a 10-point game, 24-14, with 7:15 left in the third.

Godfrey then led Gilmer on a 93-yard scoring drive, highlighted by a 52-yard completion to Daniel McLaren, to push the lead to 30-14.

Godfrey tossed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Gus Osborne to open the scoring. His second touchdown pass came in unconventional fashion: a 22-yard completion to Kedon Franklin, who fumbled. Lineman Caleb Denton scooped up the loose ball and covered the remaining seven yards for the touchdown.

Wylie's first score came on a 28-yard fumble return by Kolter Wright. Wylie quarterback Matt Preston tossed two touchdown passes and ran for another score, but was intercepted twice and sacked three times. Wylie was held to 191 yards, 70 on the ground.
