Six East Texans, including three on special teams, earned first-team honors on the Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class A All-State Football Team.

Lufkin is used to going on the road. The Panthers used to be in a district with Houston area teams. This is worse. Lufkin will be paired with Ennis starting this fall.

Jeff Traylor has been the head coach of the Gilmer Buckeyes for 14 years. During that time he's had 95 players sign with college football teams. That adds up to $10 million dollars worth of scholarships.

Gilmer and Bullard will be in a new district 5-4A. The buckeyes and the Panthers will be joined by Canton, Melissa, Emory Rains and Nevada Community. Gladewater and Spring Hill will be in the new 6-4A.

Kilgore and Carhage met in the state championship game. Now they will meet for the district title. The Kilgore Bulldogs and the Carthage Bulldogs have been placed in the new 9-4A district.
