Jeter to return to Yankees Thursday
New York (KETK) — New York Yankees superstar shortstop, Derek Jeter, will return to the big leagues Thursday afternoon.
Jeter, the captain of the Yankess ball club, has been out all season after breaking his ankle in the American League Championship series opener on October 13, 2012.
Jeter, 39, is set to bat second in the lineup for the Yankees as the designated hitter against the Kansas City Royals.
As a 13-time All-Star, Jeter holds a .313 career batting average, and plans on propelling a batting lineup that is next to last in AL runs.
Jeter has been playing with Triple-A Scranton since last week.
Yankees manager, Joe Girardi, hopes Jeter will be back at shortstop as early as Friday.
