Johnny Manziel has chosen a Texas-based firm to represent him throughout the National Football League draft process and officially submitted draft declaration papers.

Manziel has reportedly signed with Select Sports Group of Houston to be his contract agency and LRMR, The high-profile firm is run by Maverick Carter, the business partner of Miami Heat star, LeBron James.

Manziel was the first-ever freshman and the second Aggie to win the prestigious Heisman Trophy, college football’s top individual honor, by more than 150 first-place votes after a record-setting season.

Manziel spoke with Bruce Feldman of CBS Sports to confirm his decision:

“After long discussions with my family, friends, teammates, and coaches, I have decided to make myself available for the 2014 NFL Draft. The decision was not an easy one, but we all felt this was the right time to make the next step toward a professional career,” said Manziel. “My experiences here and the support of this school, Coach Sumlin, Chancellor (John) Sharp, my teammates, my classmates and Aggie football fans everywhere will be something that I carry with me for the rest of my life. I’ll always be an Aggie.”

The Tyler native and Tivy graduate was nationally recruited out of high school as a dual-threat quarterback. In 2013's game against Alabama, Manziel threw for a school record of 464 yards and five touchdowns in the 49 - 42 loss. His primary receiving target, Mike Evans has also already declared for the draft.

Manziel would land either in Cleveland with the No. 4 overall pick or in Oakland at No. 5., reports NFL draft scouts, although the perfect marketing ploy would be to get him to the Houston Texans.

“In all of my years of coaching, Johnny Manziel is the most exciting football player I have ever seen,” Aggie head coach Kevin Sumlin said. “We appreciate everything he has done for Texas A&M and Aggie football and wish him nothing but the best.”

Manziel is expected to be the second or third quarterback picked in the draft behind Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater and The University of Central Florida's Blake Bortles.

Manziel led the Aggies to an overwhelming comeback agaist the Duke Blue Devils in the New Year's Eve Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta.

Is Manziel supposed to be a "Student Athlete? How come I have never seen his academics in print? I must assume he neither has the smarts nor class room time to fulfill his duties to the school.
