Lee Ann Riley Resigns
She coached at SFA for nine seasons.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) - Lee Ann Riley has resigned as women's
basketball coach at Stephen F. Austin State University.
SFA athletic director Robert Hill announced the resignation
Monday in a statement. He says SFA will begin a national search for
a replacement.
Riley compiled a 149-129 record at SFA, including going 18-11
this past season. The Ladyjacks lost in the first round of the
Women's National Invitational Tournament to Creighton.
She led the Ladyjacks to three Southland Conference titles and
two conference tournament championships. The Ladyjacks also made it
to postseason play four times on her watch, including two NCAA
tournaments.
In the school statement, Riley said she believed "this is the
right move for me at this time."
Riley coached the Tyler Junior College Apache Ladies to a national championship 10 years ago. She was the national coach of the year in 2000.
