Every football player dreams of finishing his collegiate career the way Matt Flynn did. In his final game the LSU quarterback led the Tigers to a victory in the national championship game over Ohio State. With the ultimate collegiate goal accomplished, Flynn is now turning his sights to another challenge.
This past week the former Robert E. Lee Red Raider worked out for NFL scouts and is confident that he has what it takes to contribute at the next level.
"My best football is in front of me. I'm going to get in a situation, hopefully a good one, where I can learn a lot and progress as a quarterback."
Flynn may be about to reach the top rung of the football ladder, but he certainly hasn't forgotten his time in East Texas.
"I tell you what, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Robert E. Lee and Tyler, Texas. I learned a lot from that experience I had at Lee, and grew a lot from that experience. And now I have the opportunity to come out here and work out for scouts and have the opportunity to make a living at what you love doing."
Flynn is expected to be taken in one of the later rounds of the draft, but with his strong work ethic and his never say die attitude, who knows. This East Texan could one day be hoisting another championship trophy, only this time, in the NFL.
