Longview's Malcolm Kelly was taken in the second round by the Washington Redskins, the fourth receiver selected in the draft, the 51st player taken overall.

Kelly's recurring injury problems, his poor times in the 40, and his criticism of the OU staff dropped him out of the first round.

At Longview High School, Kelly was all-district three times, all-state twice.

He was the third player drafted by the Redskins.

Diboll's Jermichael Finley was taken in the third round by Green Bay.

At Texas, he was turning into a big play tight end. He has speed and enormous potential.

He left the Longhorns after his sophomore season to go pro.

Tyler's Matt Flynn was taken in the seventh round by Green Bay.

Flynn led LSU to the national championship.

He was the Most Outstanding Offensive Player in the national title game.

Flynn fired four touchdown passes against Ohio State.

At Tyler Lee, Flynn was one of the top quarterbacks in Texas. He led the Red Raiders to the state semifinals despite playing with a broken foot.

Flynn was the second quarterback drafted by the Packers, the second-to-last quarterback taken in the draft.
