Manziel one of several East Texans picked up in final day of MLB draft

Tyler, Tx (KETK) — A couple East Texas natives were drafted on Suday during the final rounds of the MLB draft.
Jason Jester has played for Hallsville high school, Tyler Junior College, the East Texas Pump Jacks and Texas A&M.
Now he's going to be playing in the San Diego Padres system after being drafted in the 23rd round.
Also picked up in the 23rd round was former Tyler Lee Red Raider Brett Pirtle.
Pirtle just finished up his senior year at Mississippi State.
Tyler native Johnny Manziel was also drafted by the Padres in the 28th round.
The Cleveland Browns rookie QB, is expected to remain with his NFL team.
Whitehouse Wildcat Patrick Mahomes was drafted by Detroit in the 37th round, but will be heading to Texas Tech to play football.
