Palestine native and Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has been named the 2012 NFL's Most Valuable Player.

The East Texan fell only 9 yards short of the single season rushing record, just months after he required extensive knee surgery.

Peterson was also named Offensive Player of the Year.
