The Texas Rangers announced today that the club has placed right-handed pitcher Derek Lowe on waivers for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release. The team has also signed infielder/outfielder Mark Teahen to a minor league contract.

Lowe was designated for assignment on Monday, May 20, when Josh Lindblom was added to the active roster to start that night’s contest. Lowe was signed by Texas to a minor league contract on March 6 and made the team’s Opening Day roster. In 9 relief appearances with the Rangers, Lowe allowed 13 runs/earned runs over 13.0 innings.
