Star Baylor athlete arrested on assault charge
Waco (KWKT) — The Baylor Bears starting safety and leader on defense was arrested Thursday for allegedly assaulting another person the earlier this month
According to Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton with the Waco Police Department, officers received an assault report from a 21-year-old man on September 17. In the report, the victim claimed he was attacked by Dixon at an apartment complex on the 2800 block of South University Parks on September 16.
The victim also says he waited in talking to authorities because Dixon had reportedly made threats against him and his family if he filed charges.
Officials say the victim claimed he was assaulted after he arrived at an apartment following a call from his cousin. Once inside the apartment, Dixon, who was playing video games with other people, accused the victim of breaking into his apartment, located at the same complex, several months prior.
The victim denied the claim and laughed which provoked an attack by the football player. Dixon punched the man several times in his face and head, possibly causing a concussion, according to the report.
When officers took pictures of the victim, he had visible swelling and bruises to his face. He also sustained an injury to his arm and elbow.
After interviewing Dixon, a warrant for misdemeanor assault was issued. The Baylor athlete turned himself in to the McLennan County Jail around noon on Thursday.
Ahmad Dixon is a senior starting safety for the 18th ranked Baylor Bears. He is their third leading tackler and former local football star from Midway High School in Hewitt.
