Van Zandt County police have caught they man they believe assault a 97-year old woman and stole her car.

Police tell KETK late Saturday a high speed chase started in Smith County, and ended just outside of Van Zandt County. Choppers and dogs were then called in to help assist once the man ran from police.

He was later found and detained early Sunday morning.

He was taken to a local hospital and was treated for minor injuries sustained during the foot chase.

Police tell KETK they will release the full report and the man I.D. early Monday morning.
