Police arrest juvenile car burglar, stolen property recovered

On Saturday January 2, 2010, Longview Officers were dispatched to a report of a reckless driver in the 800 block of Beaumont Street.
Officers arrived and found a 2006 Mitsubishi 4-door driving over the speed limit on MLK Boulevard. When officers stopped the car, they found that the driver was a juvenile with no driver’s license and that the car had been previously reported stolen. In addition to the driver, there were four other juveniles inside of the vehicle along with a small amount of marijuana and several items that had been stolen from car burglaries in the area of the Wildwood subdivision. Officers also located cigarettes and beer inside the car.
All five juveniles were arrested at the scene and were charged with minor in possession of alcohol, minor in possession of tobacco burglary of a motor vehicle and theft of a motor vehicle. The driver was also cited for driving without a license and speeding. All five juveniles were booked into the Gregg County Juvenile Detention Center.
The recovered stolen property was returned to the owners.
