LINDALE - City officials with Tyler and Lindale are remembering reverend Dr. James E. Ballard.

He passed away Saturday morning.

Dr. Ballard initiated the Tyler Police Department's Volunteer Chaplains Program.

He also served as Mayor of Lindale since May of 2006.

No word yet when funeral services will take place.

Dr. Ballard was 67.
