SMITH COUNTY - Trash could start piling up if commissioners don't take action, that's what environmental investigators are saying in Smith County

They say, normally inmates help to clean up county illegal dump sites, but with less deputies to help supervise, that's not an option.

Right now, the sheriff's department is thinking about using certified peace officers to help them out.

Commissioners took on the issue on Monday, a final decision is expected soon.
