TYLER (KETK 56 News) - After nearly a five-hour standoff in Tyler, an armed 23-year-old surrounded to authorities after law enforcement smoked him out with tear gas.

Tucker Hambrecht was charged with felony evading arrest. Officers say the suspect has mental health problems.

Tyler Police Public Information Officer Don Martin confirmed that police received a report at 10:15 pm from a third party that stated Hambrecht was suicidal and driving around Tyler with a firearm. Martin said officers spotted the car a short time later and attemped to check on the individual when he took off.

A short chase pursued in the area and Hambrecht drove to his home located in the 3000 block of Tanglewood Drive. Martin said he got out of his truck and into a vehicle inside the garage. He remained there for the rest of the time until authorities were forced to use tear gas and stun grenades.

A total of four shots were fired, police said. Martin did not say whether they were fired in the air, at the suspect, or at police.

No one was injured.

His bail has been set at $50,000.
