Nicole Vowell joined the KETK news team in July 2012.

You can catch Nicole during the week reporting the news live in the field, and on the weekends anchoring behind the desk for KETK Today Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8 – 9 a.m!

She grew up in Lexington, Kentucky until the age of 13 and then she moved to Livonia, Michigan—in the Metro-Detroit area. Nicole graduated with honors from Wayne State University in 2009 earning her degree in Communications with a major in Broadcast Journalism.

Nicole knew she wanted to be in the broadcasting business ever since high school, where she took her very first broadcast communications class. After declaring her major in college Nicole went on to work for the university's news station, "On-point Wayne State" as a reporter. During college she interned at two news stations in Detroit—WJBK Fox 2 News and WDIV Local 4. Nicole also worked at Crain Communications, where she had her own web-segment for Crain's Autoweek Magazine called "News-brake."

Before moving to East Texas, Nicole worked as a freelance multi-media journalist and as a copywriter for a Fortune 500 company.

Nicole has a passion for her profession and loves the crazy news world. She said, "I like it because it's something new everyday and I get to talk to people and share my stories with the world."

When Nicole is not out in the field chasing stories or at the anchor desk delieving the latest news she likes to read, cook for her family and friends, and bake sweet treats!

She also loves to write and hopes to write a book one day about all of her interesting news adventures.

Nicole spends a lot of time doing volunteer work for her community, and she is involved with a number of non-profit organizations.

She says she loves her new home in the Lone Star State and looks forward to waking up every morning to the warm East Texas sunshine.

She really loves McCallister's sweet tea, and loves to sightsee and admire all the beautiful scenery Texas has to offer.
