Nicole Vowell Reporter/Anchor
Nicole Vowell joined the KETK news team in July 2012. You can catch Nicole during on the weekends behind the desk anchoring for KETK News at 5 & 10 p.m., and reporting stories that matter to East Texas on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday!
Nicole grew up in the Bluegrass state, but moved to the Motor City when she was a teenager. So she's a mix of southern sweetheart, and spunky city girl! Nicole graduated with honors from Detroit's, Wayne State University in 2009 earning her degree Broadcast Journalism.
Nicole knew she wanted to be in the crazy news business ever since high school, where she took her very first broadcast communications class. Nicole worked for her University's news station, "On-point Wayne State" as a reporter during college. She also interned at two news stations in Detroit—WJBK Fox 2 News, and WDIV Local 4. Nicole also worked at Crain Communications, where she had her own web-segment for Autoweek Magazine called "News-brake."
Before moving to the piney woods of East Texas, Nicole worked as a freelance multi-media journalist, a waitress, and as a copywriter for a Fortune 500 company, so she's no stranger to hard work!
When Nicole is not in the field chasing stories, or at the anchor desk delieving the headlines, she likes to read, watch crime shows, and cook for her friends and family. She also loves to write and hopes to write a book one day about all of her interesting news adventures.
Nicole spends a lot of time doing volunteer work for her community, and she is involved with a number of non-profit organizations.
She says, she loves her new home in the Lone Star State and looks forward to waking up every morning to the warm East Texas sunshine!
