More Storms Possible While Others Clear Up

THUNDERSTORM UPDATE:

***NO WATCHES OR WARNINGS IN EFFECT AT THIS TIME. EARLIER A STORM COMPLEXS PROMPTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNINGS FOR HOPKINS, HUNT, HENDERSON AND RAINS COUNTIES. WIND DAMAGE WAS REPORTED NEAR YANTIS IN NW WOOD COUNTY, AS WELL AS NEAR PAYNE SPRINGS IN HENDERSON COUNTY.***

***0.50"-2.0" OF RAIN IS LIKELY IN THE PATH OF THESE HEAVIER STORMS NEAR CAONTON AND ATHENS WITH LIGHTER AMOUNTS THE FARTHER EAST ONE TRAVELS.***

The cold front that's causing the showers and thunderstorms will only slowly move southward across East Texas during the next 24 hours and therefore a few more showers and storms will probably form during the afternoon hours, mainly in the southern half of East Texas. The front should finally clear the entire area on Saturday and drier air will move in from the northeast leading to most of the weekend being very nice with slightly lower temeperatures, especially at night, and noticeably lower humidity.

FORECAST DETAILS:

TODAY: Mostly cloudy and not as hot with a few additional showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the southern portions of East Texas by the afternoon, northern areas will experience partial clearing. Highs near 89 Sulphur Spring - Mt. Pleasant - Atlanta, 92 Tyler - Longview, 97 Crockett - Lufkin - Hemphill. Winds: Variable 10-15 mph becoming Northerly 5-10 mph.

FRIDAY NIGHT and SATURDAY MORNING: Partly cloudy to mostly clear...still the chance for a few showers in southern areas early...turning a little cooler. Lows near 68. Winds becoming NE 5-10 mph.

SATURDAY: Mostly clear and becoming less humid, except for a slight chance for isolated showers in extreme southern areas. High 93. Winds NE 10 mph.

SUNDAY: Mostly sunny and very nice with comfortable humidity. Low 69, High 92. Winds ENE 10 mph.

MONDAY: Sunny and continued very comfortable. Low 69, High 92. Wind E 5-10 mph.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny and a bit warmer. Low 68, High 93. Winds ESE 5 mph.
